Standard School Attire

A few reminders...

Last year the implementation of SSA across the district often varied from school to school.  This year there is an increased effort in the district to see that SSA is carried out in all MNPS schools.  Accordingly, students will be required to be in Standard School Attire beginning the first day of school.

There will be special emphasis at NSA on the following:

Standard School Attire

 Standard School Accepted Attire

  • Shirts with short or long sleeves and a collar (polo, dress-style with buttons, or turtleneck), in the solid colors of any shade of white, lnavy blue, light blue, black, red, yellow.
  • Pants, shorts, Capri pants, skirts, skorts or jumpers in the colors of navy blue, black, or any shade of khaki.
  • Fleece fabric is allowed for sweaters and lightweight jackets.
  • Dresses with short or long sleeves and a collar in the district or school-approved solid colors.

Standard School Prohibited Attire

  • No denim jeans, skirts, or jackets of any color.
  • No tops in stripes or patterns.
  • No t-shirts.  (They may be worn under solid colored shirts with a collar).
  • No shorts, jumpers, dresses, skirts or skorts that do not extend below the fingertip.
  • No hoodies.

In addition, pants and shorts must not sag and chests and midriffs must be covered.

On the first day of school, students not in SSA will be given the chance to correct their attire or will be held in the main office until a parent can bring the proper clothing.  Starting the second day of school, students not in SSA will start receiving consequences that are spelled out in the Personal Appearance and Dress Code Policy.

There will be designated Fridays at NSA throughout the year that are non-SSA days.
