Academically Productive Clasroom Policy

To ensure a positive learning environment, no student will be allowed to continue to disrupt the learning opportunity of other students. Whenever a student is asked to stop a behavior deemed disruptive by the teacher, the student will be expected to stop such behavior immediately.  The teacher will go through the following procedures when a student is disrupting the learning of others:

  • The teacher will identify the disruptive behavior and ask the student to discontinue the behavior immediately.
  • If the student stops the behavior, the teacher will continue with the learning activity.
  • If the student does not immediately respond to the teacher’s request, alternative actions will be taken (parent contact, change in seating assignment, etc.)
  • If the behavior continues, the student will be asked to leave the classroom, a referral will be written, and the student will report to the assistant principal’s office.
  • If the student refuses to immediately leave the room, the teacher will call the office for someone to escort the student out of the classroom.  The student will be brought to the principal’s office.

Minimum Consequence:  Principal-parent-teacher-student conference

Maximum Consequence:  Suspension or expulsion
