Driving to school is a privilege of students in grades ten through twelve.Students who drive recklessly, leave school without permission, and/or take other students off campus without permission will have their parking privileges suspended for a specified period of time.PURSUANT to TCA 49-6-4204: Any vehicle driven on school property is subject to search at any time.There will be no loitering in the parking lot before or after school.
All student drivers must obtain an NSA parking permit.Parking permits can be obtained from the discipline office.All vehicles must have a parking permit: There are NO EXCEPTIONS.Students are to park in the designated areas only.
AUTOMOBILE AND PARKING LOT REGULATIONS The following rules and regulations apply to use of the parking areas and driveways on the NSA campus.These rules are prepared for students in written form in order that the school’s expectations of student drivers will be clear.The parking lot areas are considered to be a part of the school campus, and all other rules and regulations governing school conduct that are stated in the NSA Student Handbook and the Metropolitan Public School’s Student Code of Conduct also apply to the parking lot areas.
Students driving to school must be on time and abide by the speed limit of 10 miles per hour.
Students are to park only in the designated student lot next to the school building.No student may park in the faculty spots in front of the building.
Students are not to park in the fire lane or in spaces labeled handicapped parking.These areas should be kept free of parked or standing vehicles at all times.
Students are not to be in the parking lot area during the regular school day without a note signed by a principal or without an early dismissal pass properly completed.
Drivers are advised to lock unattended vehicles since the school is not liable for loss of valuables from cars.Books, musical instruments, and other valuables should not be left in plain view in unattended vehicles.Such articles should be stored in the trunk of the car.
In the event of an accident on school grounds involving personal injury or property damage, the Metro Police Department or the School Resource Office should be notified by the student(s) involved in order to make an official report of the accident.This record may be requested by the insurer of the vehicle for purposes of arriving at settlement of damages.
Students are dismissed to go to the parking area at the ringing of the afternoon dismissal bell or if they participate in the OFF-CAMPUS LUNCH PROGRAM.Vehicles are to exit the parking area in a single lane of traffic using the right lane and leaving the left lane clear to incoming traffic.
It is a privilege to drive a car on campus, and if rules are violated, driving privileges will be suspended by the principal.
Students operating a vehicle on the school campus shall assume the responsibility for the conduct of all passengers in their vehicles.Loud music is not to be played on campus.
